Wild, saturated color weaves through each painting, breathing life into my wolves and big cats. Vivid, luminous, and exuberant, the power of color manifests in my paintings of wildlife, Native peoples, and totems of the American Southwest.
My inspiration comes from the brilliant colors of Southwestern sunsets, Native American ceremonial regalia, and the bright, pure, unnatural colors used by Fauvist artists at the beginning of the 20th century.
I paint what I love and what speaks to me. Highly stylized wolves provide the bedrock of my painting portfolio. I passionately support the reintroduction of the Mexican Gray Wolf into its natural habitats, and believe in the importance of wolves in the creation of a healthy ecosystem.
Acrylic on canvas or wood is my medium of choice. My painting style combines the use of vivid, highly saturated, non-naturalistic colors with piercingly real yet surreal, eyes of my wildlife subjects.
My goal is to create paintings that are arresting and dynamic, evoking an emotional response in the viewer.
